After two previous nominations in said category, his turn as a villainous Hei Long in 2013’s blockbuster series,The Journey: A Voyage was widely tipped as hot favourite and finally won him his first acting trophy last night.
“I still can’t believe it, but I believe everything will sink in tomorrow,” he said, while considering the reality of his first-ever Best Actor win.
As his wife, Andrea De Cruz, is currently in Hong Kong, Pierre shared that he has sent her a text message to notify her about his award. “I’m sure she’ll be on Facebook too and that she’ll get the news from our friends.”
Pierre, who was a bundle of nerves prior to the awards ceremony wanted to pull a Jennifer Lawrence and have a sip or two to calm him down. Unfortunately, he said, drinks weren’t allowed into the hall. “Other than chewing gum [which helped calm me down],” he chuckled, “I said a little prayer.”
Home alone with his three precious fur kids tonight, Pierre quipped that he would be turning in early but not before he revels in his win, “watch the playback and kick myself” for it.
Hoping to do “more versatile” roles, both good and bad, in future, Pierre said: “Nothing’s gonna change. I’m still gonna be struggling with my Mandarin and I’m gonna work a little harder [on it].”
Pierre, who was looking dapper in a navy blue J. Lindberg suit, looked to his Best Actor trophy, shook his head and quipped with a grin, “No, no, not at all. This is it.”
